This class taught by David Baker will cover various methods to assess the level of Varroa mites in your hives, as well as how to manage your bees to help them be healthy in the face of the most significant current threat to bee health.
Topics covered will include:
* The life cycle of the Varroa Mite
* Counting Varroa Mites (Sticky board, sugar shake, alcohol roll)
* Treatment free varroa mite control (Drone sacrifice, sugar dusting, brood breaks)
* Softer chemical treatments (formic acid, thymol, oxalic acid)
To Bee or Not To Bee does not support the use of fluvalinate (Apistan), coumaphos or amitraz (Apivar), and we will not cover applying these medications.
